Kent Seldon Bridges

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and horse lover, passed away on Wednesday, Dec 29, 2021. He is survived by his wife Debra and their children and spouses: Kristin Bridges (Cari), Jessica Bridges, Mindy Bridges (Deb), Trevor Sears (Stacey), Lacey Sears (Rick) and his 6 grandchildren: Eliot, Silas, Colton, Max, Zoe, Castor, as well as his siblings Carolyn (Tad) Bridges Jeppesen, Sandra (Terry) Bridges Dubois and Lynn (Jill) Bridges.

Kent was born on Aug 26, 1945, in Ogden, UT, to Seldon S Bridges and Betty B Bridges. He married the love of his life, Debra Mills Bridges on May 8, 1993.

Kent graduated from BYU in 1966 with a degree in Business Management. He began his career with Phillips Petroleum, then moved to Xerox and eventually to Silicon Valley where he spent many successful years as a VP of Sales. Kent had a unique ability to make everyone feel as if they were an important member of his team. Those who knew him would say this was his most endearing quality. That attribute made him successful as he spent the last several years of his life managing sales teams who sold products and services to businesses internationally. Kent was one of the most loyal, hardworking and honest individuals you would want to meet. He had a big personality and many stories to tell. Kent developed friendships all over the world through his work and travels.

When Kent was barely old enough to sit in a saddle, he developed a lifelong love of horses. Along with his wife Debra, he was very active in the Arabian Horse Association. They traveled around the country together as Debra competed in riding and Kent showed many high-quality breeding stock of his own in halter. Kent served alongside Vicky Bowman as the VP of AHAU for many years. Kent loved hunting and looked forward to his annual trips. They were expensive trips, but he would say, "It's ok I have my hunting stash." He also had a love of golf and his annual boy's trip was the highlight of his year.

Kent loved his girls deeply. He had 4 wonderful daughters, each one individually, believing they were his favorite. His example of hard work and dedication to being successful in business rubbed off on his kids as they have all become highly successful in their individual careers. He will be greatly missed as their "Captain Dad." After Kent and Debra were married, he developed a special relationship with Debra's own children. He loved them as if they were his own.

Kent is preceded in death by his beloved daughter Jennifer, his brother Dennis, sister Susan, mother, father, as well as his grandparents, aunts and uncles. Certainly, it must have been a wonderful reunion with him as they rejoiced together.

A celebration of Kent's life will be held in his honor.
