Ken was born on August 30, 1945 and passed away on February 12, 2019. He was born to Dr. Kenneth and Elizabeth (Betty) Hill. The family moved to Garfield, Utah, where Dr. Hill was the company doctor for Kennecott Copper. Ken spent his younger days roaming the hills around Garfield. When Kennecott closed Garfield, the family moved to the east side of Salt Lake City; but moved back to the rural westside.
Ken grew up in Hunter and attended school in Magna. He was Senior Class President and a member of the Cyprus High swim team. During his senior year, he became the first swimmer from Cyprus to ever win 2 individual medals at a single state swim final. He was awarded a swimming scholarship to the University of Utah. When Vietnam expanded, Ken was drafted at the start of his senior year. After basic training, he was sent to an Army reference lab in New York City and completed a condensed course for medical technologists. He was later transferred to Fort Dix, NJ and was instrumental in the initial formation of the Combined Armed Forces blood donor program. After his Army experience, he came back to Utah and found work in clinical labs around the Salt Lake valley. He was instrumental in the early establishment of the American Society of Medical Technologists. His last clinical lab position was at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He developed an interest with the immunology of multiple sclerosis and cancer linked CNS diseases. He became an expert in immunology, immunoassays, data analysis and conventional plus confocal microscopy systems. This research interests continued for over 30 years. Ken became an established author and coauthor of many scientific articles. His contributions were often cited by other research areas. Ken retired from research at the VA and U of U Medical Centers. He was an ardent outdoorsman and loved bowling, fishing, hunting, rock-hounding and camping. His hobbies included digital photography and image modifications, rock art of Utah and rock collecting.
On September 20, 2002, he married Connie McIff and the blended families lasted until his passing. Ken is survived by his wife (Connie) and family; Sean (Amber) Hill, Liz (Neal) Lewis, Teddi (Kevin) Floyd, Sheri (Ed) McBride, Paul (Kim) Sindt, David (Anna) Sindt, and Mathew (Susan) Sindt. The blended family had 20 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He had a special extended family of neighbors, friends, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard and daughter Xuan.
Ken and Connie want to express their appreciation to Stephen Aslami, MD and the staff at Internal Medicine at St. Mark's, Katie Bauer and others from Red Rock Hospice care, along with many friends and neighbors that "looked" after him.

His celebration of life will be held March 15, 2019 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S State St., Midvale, Utah at 11:00 a.m.
