Our loving husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away August 10, 2021 at Flaming Gorge Reservoir on an outing with his family.
Kendall was born the 1st of 4 children on January 11, 1940 to Ray Peter Frandsen and Erma Mable Lund at his grandmother's home in Ephraim, Utah. He was raised along side his siblings, Norma Overson, Phil Frandsen and Nila Taylor in Gunnison, Utah.
He graduated from Gunnison High School in 1958. He went on to Snow College and graduated from Utah State University. Later in his career he earned his Master's Degree in Education at BYU.
Kendall served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the North Central States Mission. He has served in many church callings. One of his favorite callings was teaching Primary. He served as Ward Clerk, Ward Missionary and Scout Leader. Dad loved the Gospel and had a strong testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ.
He finally found the love of his life and married Velma LaReta Hill and her 4 daughters on May 25, 1974. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple. They were blessed with 2 more children to complete their family.
Kendall taught school for 37 years in the Davis School District. He loved all of his 5th and 6th grade students. After he retired from full time teaching in 2003, he was a substitute teacher at Jordan and Canyons School District until 2020. Dad loved learning and teaching. He once told mom he couldn't believe they paid him to teach. Dad was a loving and fun influence to his students.
Dad served as a Temple Ordinance Worker for 17 years. He and mom were able to serve together at the Jordan River and Draper Temples. His temple service was a delight to him until he was unable to hear. They were also able to serve a mission together at the Family History Library, which they loved.
Nothing made Dad happier than spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for his Chili dinner birthday parties. Everyone looked forward to them each year. Dad wrote for a class reunion, "I keep busy worrying about kids and attempting to be of some use to them. The younger they are the smaller their problems and the more fun they are. All of the family is great and we enjoy them. I have done a lot of work on our home, like adding a new kitchen and that was kind of fun." He always took care of us and our home. Dad would come to our rescue whenever he could. He was always a great example of honesty to everyone he met.
Kendall is survived by his wife, LaReta, his children, Christine (Jeff) Olsen, Paula (Ron) Everill, Brenda (Spence) Nelson, Cindy (Michael) Haertel, Dixie (Chris) Olson, Chad (Jamie) Frandsen, 21 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Nila Taylor, grandson Clinton Whetman, 2 great grandchildren Nathana and Ryan Everill.
