Kelly Melissa Neuenswander passed away October 12, 2018 at home surrounded by her family in Draper, Utah. Her death ended a long and difficult battle with cancer that she fought with great courage, faith and perseverance.
Kelly was born on November 1, 1963, in Greensboro, North Carolina to William and Martha Johnson. She attended Brigham Young University where she earned her degree in interior design. After graduation, she moved back east for work and to be near her parents whom she loved dearly. She spent the next several years between the east coast and Utah pursuing both educational and career opportunities that came her way. She was especially fond of the time she spent working at Carson-Dellosa and the people she met there.
She married David A. Neuenswander in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 20, 2002. Together they had three children; a daughter and twin sons. Kelly was most passionate about her role as a wife and mother and thought often about how she could best address the needs of her family and lay the foundations of faith for her children to lean on throughout their lives. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many areas of the church, but truly enjoyed and excelled at teaching.
Kelly had a truly magnetic personality. To know her was to love her and if you were lucky enough to know her...well, you were pretty lucky. She was warm and loving; generous and forgiving. A true beauty inside and out. Kindness came easily to her. She was witty and sarcastic with a smile and laugh that could fill any room. She was friendly to everyone and had genuine interest in people and their lives. She loved adventure and traveling and would overpack for a short stay anywhere. She was a southern girl at heart and loved BYU and the UNC Tarheels just like her dad. Kelly was thoughtful and caring and loved her people with a love that was fierce and dedicated. Though we are relieved that Kelly is now free from her earthly pain and struggle, there are simply no words to adequately express the deep loss we feel at her passing. We rely on the sweet assurance and knowledge that we will see her again one day.
She is survived by her loving husband, David, her daughter, Ava, her sons Luke and Logan, her mother, Martha, brother, Bill (Diane), niece, Courtney (Cameron), and nephew, David (Leda) as well as many other special friends and extended family members. She is preceded in death by her father, William, only eleven short months ago. We feel confident they have had a sweet reunion.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Mountain Point 12th Ward, 607 E. Rocky Mouth Lane, Draper, Utah. A viewing will be held 1 hour prior to the services. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
