Obituary
Kay Elwood Jensen~ 80, of Kearns, passed away following a brief illness on September 16, 2018 in Murray, Utah, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 2, 1938 in Axtell, Utah to Luray and Elvena Kump Jensen. Raised on a farm in Centerfield, Utah, Kay graduated from Gunnison Valley High School in 1956 and later enlisted in the Utah National Guard. He was known for having a strong work ethic, a reputation that he earned and carried with him throughout his life.
Kay enjoyed the last 37 years married to the love of his life, Lynett Jensen. They started their journey together on November 12, 1981 in Centerfield, Utah and together they made many wonderful memories enjoying one another, their children and grandchildren. He was previously married to Pamela Eskelson Tower, with whom he had the first three of his children; later divorced.
A man of many talents, Kay worked hard in the mining and construction trades and spent many years working with concrete and commercial forms building, finally retiring from Eagle Precast, Salt Lake City, in 2016. Kay had a love of the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and enthusiastically shared it with family and friends. He loved hunting for bargains and would spend hours browsing online classifieds, often returning from errands with more than he left with. He had a significant sweet tooth, and never saw a piece of fruit he wouldn’t eat – particularly if it was attached to a bush or tree in the wild. Kay had a knack for finding treasures, and amassed a collection of rocks and other great “finds” but especially enjoyed sharing those treasure hunting outings with his kids and grandkids. He cherished friendships and would take every opportunity to visit with and serve those around him. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Kay was preceded in death by his parents, Luray and Elvena Jensen, sister, Bonnie Mae Jensen, and step-daughter, Crystal Stewart.
He is survived by his beloved wife: Lynett Jensen, Kearns; his children: Kena Jensen, Kearns; Brenda (Shem) Jensen, Paonia, CO; David (Karol) Jensen, Kaysville; Adam (Nan) Jensen, Bailey, CO; KimberLee (Justin) Larson, Magna; David Collier, Palisade, CO; his 14 grandchildren; his siblings: Carma Thomas, West Jordan; Jim Jensen, Centerfield; Elwin (Bonnie) Jensen, West Jordan.
