Kathryn Broadhead

Kathryn Broadhead, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, teacher and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on November 8, 2018, following a brief illness. She was born November 7, 1943 in Payson, Utah to Rulon N. Broadhead and Amy Irene Haycock.

She grew up in Nephi where she graduated from Juab High School. She attended Snow College and graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She later earned a Master's Degree.

Upon graduation, Kathy moved to Salt Lake where she began her teaching career. She loved the children and enjoyed helping them learn. Throughout her 33 years of teaching, she influenced the lives of countless students at Twin Peaks Elementary School in the Granite School District.

Kathy was an avid reader and also loved to paint, draw, and do many crafts. In more recent years, Kathy found much joy in quilting and spending time visiting and shopping with her cherished quilting buddies. She made a number of beautiful quilts for her family.

Kathy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a beloved primary teacher, faithful visiting teacher and compassionate service committee member.

Kathy loved her nieces and nephews and was constantly reminding them that she was their "favorite aunt." She supported them in all of their special occasions. Her family meant the world to her.

Kathy will be remembered for her warm hugs, fun personality and sense of humor.

Kathy is survived by her brothers, Merrill (Chris) and Niles, sister Janice (Craig) Mortensen, birth daughter, Donna Goodro (Tony), grandchildren, Chris (Fabi) and Hailey, two adored great-grandchildren, Lola and Grace, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Susan, and sister-in-law, LaDonna Broadhead.

Funeral services will be held at the Holladay 3rd Ward building at 4568 Holladay Blvd., Holladay, Utah on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi, Utah.
