Kathie Mcdonough

Kathleen Brooksby McDonough returned to her Heavenly Father on September 12, 2017. Born on September 29, 1928 to loving parents, William and Emma Brooksby of Fredonia, AZ. She is the youngest of 10 children. Her father sadly passed away when she was 8 years old leaving her to be raised by her mother and siblings. She still had a joyful childhood and made the most of what she was given. She lived a full and happy life being a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She moved to the Salt Lake area and finished high school at West High School and made many lifelong friends. She met her first husband, Martin G. Rubisch in Salt Lake City towards the end of World War II, where he served as a fighter pilot in the Army Air Corps. Following the war, she traveled to different bases in the states and in Germany. Later, they lived in San Diego and enjoyed the California life style and the ocean for twelve years. They then moved back to Salt Lake in 1961. Martin was the father of her 3 children, Jeri, Steve and Don. They were divorced in 1980.

Kathie worked most of her adult life and retired as a legal secretary from the State Attorney General's Office. On July 10, 1993, she and Jean W. McDonough were sealed in the Jordan River Temple. Jean was the love of her life and they were married for 23 years until his passing in September of 2016 at the age of 97. They travelled and enjoyed their family and many friends. Kathie loved her family and loved the Savior Jesus Christ. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different callings, including Relief Society President. She will be sorely missed, but we are all happy for her joyous reunion with her sweet Jean and other loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents, 8 siblings, Oscar, Clarence, Belle, Edee, Gladys, Victor, Viv & Frank Brooksby; husband, Jean. She is survived by her sister, Marie (Orell) Kehrer; daughters, Jeri (Dr. Richard) Mott and Kathy (Ron) Wilkins; sons, Dr. Steve (Chrysti) Rubisch, Dr. Don (Estee) Rubisch, Mark (Dorothy) McDonough, Bruce (Allyson) McDonough and Greg McDonough; 147 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 in the Highland View Ward, 2980 South 2790 East, Salt Lake City, UT at 12:00 p.m. with a viewing prior from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
