Junell Bott

Junell Bott passed away unexpectedly in her home on Tuesday, February 11th, at the age of 69. Our family is deeply saddened and shocked by her sudden death.

Junell was born on March 1st, 1955, in Enterprise, UT, to Hugh and Lora Lee Holt. Her family moved to Salt Lake in 1962, and she resided there for the rest of her life. Junell graduated from Granite High School in 1973 and then completed a degree in history at the University of Utah. She married Robert Bott in 1981 and they welcomed a son, Robert Jr., later that year.

After some time as a stay-at-home mother, Junell returned to the workforce as an educator in Granite School District. She was passionate about education, always encouraging her son and grandchildren to excel in school. In 2000 she began working at U.S. Magnesium, and she retired from that company in November of 2024.

Junell was an amazing mother and grandmother who always doted on members of her family. “Grandma Nell” was always excited to play with her grandchildren, and she loved having them for sleepovers. She also enjoyed taking them on fun family outings, including recent trips to Bear Lake, Bryce Canyon, and Disneyland. She was an avid Anglophile; she loved the Beatles, and she liked to watch British comedies such as Monty Python and Are You Being Served? with her son. She consistently put the needs of family members before her own. She will be remembered for her kindness as well as her keen sense of humor.

Junell is survived by her husband Robert, her son Robert Jr., her daughter-in-law Tiffany, her grandchildren Tristan, Tavin, and Eleanor (all of whom she loved dearly), her sister Sheryl, her brother Jason, her sister-in-law Victoria, and many nieces and nephews. She is also dearly missed by her long-time friends Joe and Shauna White, her cousin LeeAnna Gardner, her daughter-in-law’s parents, Dale and Susan Olson, and many other friends and members of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents.

An open house celebrating her life will be held Wednesday, March 12 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at the LDS church on 3750 South Hillside Lane, Salt Lake City, 84109.
