June Carlson Pender was born in Pleasant Grove, Utah to Carl Birtal Carlson and Alice Geneva Fullmer. June was the 8th of 9 children and was raised on a farm where a strong work ethic was instilled into her at a young age.
June met the love of her life, Ken Lee Pender in April of 1947 at a dance, and they married in October of that year. Together June and Ken had a wonderful life. June worked hard as a wife and mother, and as a career woman. June developed a love of gardening working along side her husband, and became quite apt and knowledgeable about many different plants and flowers. She always took pride in keeping her yard, and home maintained and beautiful.
June worked for many years, as an Insurance Underwriter, a Bookkeeper, and even at the Blind Center of Utah. June was a hard worker at home and in the office, but her heart was always with her family. After her retirement of 40 years she bought a large home in West Valley City, where her daughter and granddaughters moved in with her. June took care of her daughter (Suzie) after a severe illness that eventually took Suzie's life. June continued caring and loving her family the remainder of her days.
June was a very loving and generous woman, she wasn't afraid to speak her mind and was always working diligently on something. She loved her family fiercely, and constantly cared and watched over them. She was known for her family dinners, and traditions that kept the family together. She was an amazing cook, and enjoyed time spent in the kitchen.
June was a wonderful example of love and devotion and she will be dearly missed.
June is preceded in death by her parents, Carl (Alice) Carlson; the love of her life (Ken Pender), and daughter Karene Susie Pender. June is survived by her son, Steve (Roena) Pender, and grandchildren, Abby (Jason) Reel, Brian (Connie) Pender, and Amie (Casey) Crum, and many great grandchildren.
June never liked to be the center of attention, so to honor her wishes, there will be no funeral services. Instead, there will be a viewing at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St. in Midvale on Monday, December 17th from 5-7 PM and again Tuesday, December 18th from 10:30-11:30 AM. The family will then hold a short graveside service at the West Jordan Cemetery.
