Present in Life, Peaceful in Passing, Marlene was born June 20, 1940, in Deep Creek, north of Lapoint, Utah, to Guy Moore and Velda Moore Young. Raised by Herb Young. She was the 5th child of 12 children. She grew up in the Uinta Basin of Utah, making many memories with her siblings and attending Union High School in Roosevelt, Utah.

In 1954 she met her future husband Doug Mickelson of Duchesne Utah, at Lake Boren. Their relationship blossomed into marriage on December 21, 1957, in Salt Lake City, a marriage that lasted for over 60 plus years. As young lovers Marlene and Douglas spent their life together enjoying a cornucopia of life's experiences. They worked hard and bought their first and only home in the Cottonwood area of Murray, Utah.

Marlene gave birth to 5 accomplished children, Jim, Marilyn, Judy, Mike, and Kristi. She cherished, nurtured, and always supported her children.

She worked various jobs during her life, the most memorable being an Emergency Admitting Clerk at St. Mark's Hospital and Co-Owner of Club Management.

Marlene suffered many health issues throughout her life, facing each issue with strength and endurance. Time and failing health were her passing.

She is survived in life by her husband Doug, her 5 children, Jim (Earlene), Marilyn (Frank), Judy, Mike (Gina), and Kristi (Gordon), 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, 7 sisters and a brother.

Preceded in death by her mother Velda and fathers Guy and Herb, brothers Cliff and Verl, and sister Colleen.

Funeral services to be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State St., Midvale, UT. Visitation with family prior 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Burial in Manti City, Utah Cemetery on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 12 noon.
