Jourdan Derek Bendoski

Derek always had a big heart and grew to be a big man happy to help anyone. He was a wonderful son, brother, cousin, and friend. We wish to thank all of the teachers, neighbors and friends who helped him become the good man he was. You didn't judge him or shun him but were always true and faithful. Never look back with regret, wondering what you missed or could have done because of the choice he made. No one could have seen this. We all miss him terribly.

Derek has always marched to the beat of his own drum and it served him well. Beginning in childhood he needed to know the why and how of everything - toys, rocks, stars, and especially rules! He loved to do things with his hands. His journey started at age 6 with a huge stump of wood, bucket of nails and a hammer. He created swords and shields with his gang of friends using scraps from his dad's wood shop. Throughout his school years he took classes where he created things - pottery, woodworking, auto body and welding which became his career.

Derek has always strived to be the best at whatever he did. The Sandy Boys and Girls Club, one of his favorite places during elementary school years, had a contest to see who could stay on a Pogo Stick the longest. Derek beat every record! Derek loved to hit targets with everything he could make or get his hands on, patiently practicing until he was consistently perfect. He used darts, anything from his sling shot, Chinese stars, throwing knives, arrows, blow darts and finally guns which became his passion.

Derek faced and learned to compensate for the significant challenge of dyslexia. He worked hard in school and it paid off. He received an Associate of Science degree in Welding from SLCC and was well on the way to getting the same degree in Machining. The majority of his career has been with SME Steel. His latest job was fitter/welder and lead man of night shift at the Pocatello, Idaho SME Fabrication Shop. He enjoyed training people to do work better and faster and to reduce wasted time and material in processes he worked with. He greatly appreciated the support of those managers that helped him in this endeavor.

Derek is survived by parents, Scott V. Bendoski and Sharon P. Bendoski, and his brother, Uri Alaric Bendoski. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Vaughn J Paxman, his aunt Shannon Williams Paxman, his sister Tanya Bendoski, his uncle David C. Paxman, and his grandfather Donald E Bendoski.

There will be a gathering on Fri., Dec. 1st from 6-8 pm at the LDS Chapel located at 13112 S. 700 E. The funeral will be held in the same building on Sat., Dec. 2nd at noon, with a gathering from 11-11:45 am. Interment will be at Crescent View Cemetery.
