John Leonard Sutherland

John Leonard Sutherland, age 53, passed away peacefully April 29, 2020 at his home in Mona, Utah after a courageous 13 year battle with cancer. He was born June 29, 1966 in Nephi, Utah to Bill and Pat Sutherland.

He married Jan Marie Stephenson August 22, 1986, their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. John worked side by side with his brother Jim at Sutherland Cabinet for 33 years. John was a dedicated fireman for 32 years, 23 years as fire chief. John was also part of the Juab County Search and Rescue for over 20 years. He served on the Mona City Council. John loved being a part of the Mona 24th of July celebration's awesome firework show. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends.

His pride and joy was his children and grandchildren, they adored their grandpa John. He left us far too soon. We will forever miss him and always love him.

He is survived by his wife, Jan, children, Whitney (Wootton) Redmond, Casey Sutherland, Shelbey (Gavin) Bangerter; Justin "Opie" Sutherland, parents, Bill and Pat Sutherland, brothers, Brad (Debbie) Sutherland, Jim (DeAnn) Sutherland, Mike (Tammie) Sutherland, in-laws, Jim and Janice Stephenson and many nieces and nephews who he adored; his pride and joy, his grandkids, Whitlee, Wren, Wrylee, Wriggs, Wrexton, Parker, Teagon, Paisley, Traycen and his faithful sidekick, his dog, Daisey.

A special thank you to Dr. Seth Riddle, Dr. Jones, Dr. Rasmussen and CVMC. A very special thank you to Central Valley Home Health and Hospice. Thank you Jacee Peterson for being so kind and caring to John, We love you!!

A viewing will be held Sunday, May 3, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Anderson Funeral Home (94 West 300 North) Nephi, Utah and a graveside service Monday, May 4, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Mona City Cemetery (there will be a small program, please bring a chair).
