John Pollock

John Walter Pollock, otherwise known to everyone as Grandpa, was born August 14th of 1936 in White Plains, New York to John E. Pollock and Edna R. Bollenbacher. John passed away on October 11th of 2023. He served in the Utah National Guard Reserve and the United States Army. He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served an honorable mission in the British South Mission. He held many church callings throughout his life; one that was particulary special was serving as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. John graduated from Brigham Young University before he moved from Provo to West Jordan with his family. He was employed by Hoj Forklift Systems for over 20 years.

John married Veronica D. Blagrove in the Salt Lake Temple on November 25th of 1970. They are the parents of five children, Craig (Beth), Matthew (deceased), Marina (Mark), Melanie and Paige. John is survived by his wife Veronica, beloved children and spouses, treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his sister, Mary Ann, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Matthew.

John was a lover of classical and jazz music, history in all its forms, reading, family history, BYU sports, dark chocolate, Veronica's cooking (especially her Sunday roast with Yorkshire puddings and her homemade pizza), and the New York Yankees. In recent years he was limited to armchair traveling and a good western while wearing one of his Hawaiian-style shirts. But, his favorite thing of all time was being with family, especially his grandkids.

Viewing will be held on Monday, October 16th at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale, UT 84047 from 6-8 pm. Graveside service will be at the West Jordan City Cemetery on Tuesday, October 17th at 11 am.
