John R. Leasure was born on May 17, 1935 in Phoenix, AZ, and was raised in Santa Monica, CA. He was a Korean War Vet and served an LDS mission in Korea. He married Sharon Lee Rodgers on April 13, 1963 in the Manti Temple. They are the parents of 7 children, 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
John earned his Bachelor's, Master's and EDS Degrees from BYU. He worked for the BSA and then became a principal of elementary schools in California and Pocatello, ID. He enjoyed art and woodworking and made many beautiful projects for his family. His paintings will always be a special reminder of his remarkable talent. His family meant everything to him.
John died on July 7, 2016, after suffering many years with pulmonary fibrosis. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years and his children, Erik and Brenda Leasure, Kimberly and Harry Welch, Kristin Kirby, Kira Leasure, Mark and Paula Leasure, Curtis and Sophia Leasure, and Kendyl and Taylor Williams-Leasure; his sisters, Marilyn Vanderplas and Ruth Hill; brothers, Jim Powell and Rob Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Wallace Hamilton; his sister, Gloria Curtis Leasure and his brother, Joe Leasure.

John's funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah. There will be viewing 1 hour prior to the service. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
