John (Jack) Russell West

John (Jack) Russell West, 93, South Jordan, passed away with his daughters by his side on October 11, 2015. Born May 28, 1922 in Bingham Canyon, Utah to John T and Corinne (Bessie) West. He was the 4th of five children. Jack married the love of his life, Edra Butterfield on June 5, 1943. They were later sealed for Time and Eternity in the Jordan River Temple. Together they had 5 children, Jack, Dennis, Thomas, Susan and Karen. He worked at Kennecott Copper as an electrician until he retired at age 62. He enjoyed his years as a Bingham Volunteer Fireman, member of the Midvale Lion's Club and WBBA baseball coach. He was a lifelong member of IBEW serving as treasurer for many years. His favorite hobbies were gardening and woodworking and he enjoyed traveling, reading, watching baseball and westerns.

Jack was a devoted son, brother, husband and father.

Preceded in death by his parents, sisters, brother, son Jack and son Thomas.

Survived by wife of 72 years Edra, son Dennis (Marian) West, daughters Susan (Kirk) Samowitz, Karen (Joe) Schuring, 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM with a viewing one hour prior to the service in the chapel at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
