John G Rudd (Jack) passed away peacefully Monday, December 10, 2018, with his wife Kay, sons Rick, Dion, and Aaron and family at his side. He was welcomed by his son Jay into heaven with a giant group hug of family and friends. Rumor has it Jay and Jack are arguing about who will carry the briefcase to the next meeting with Jesus.
Jack (82) was born on Christmas Eve 1936 to Peter and Lucille Wolf. In his early years he lived between his Portuguese grandparents' dairy in Yreka, California and the Jazz scene and picking apricots in the Bay area.
Towards the end of WWII, Jack's knack for sales and his amazing people skills were already at work when he was just 8 years old and selling Double Bubble Bubble Gum on the San Francisco black market. He pursued numerous sales jobs and while in high school played trumpet, directed, and managed gigs for his big band.
Jack had four sons, Rick with first wife Terry followed by Jay and Aaron with Kay Ann Graham who he married on Dec. 11, 1973. They later welcomed Dion into the family when he was 8.
While raising these boys, Jack worked in sales in the optical business. He was a very good father and instilled in them a love of people, a passion for adventure-especially travel, skiing and football-and a deep faith.
In 1977 Jack committed his life to Jesus and his life was transformed. Together with Kay, he served people with disabilities by taking them on camping trips in the Sierras. He participated in the founding of Mountain Christian Fellowship which continues today in Murphys, CA. Jack served The Fellowship Church in Sandy, Utah, and also in overseas missions. He established and worked in Christian schools in California, Utah, and the islands of Vanuatu. All around the world, you will hear from people who consider Jack a father in faith.
Jack is survived by his wife and 3 sons, 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
We invite you to celebrate his life with us on Saturday, January 12th at 10 AM at The Fellowship Church, 615 E. Sego Lily Drive, Sandy, Utah. Lunch will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack's memory to The Fellowship for offsetting funeral expenses and ongoing ministry to the international community of refugees and immigrants in Salt Lake City.
