The most amazing man we know who we've had the privilege to call our Husband, Dad, Grandpa and friend passed away July 14, 2020 after a long illness.
John Allen Robu (Jack) was born October 5, 1940 in Needmore, Michigan to Louis John and Goldie Mae Robu. He was the youngest of 9 siblings.
He married Janis Kay Bair on February 22, 1966 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Together they were blessed with 2 daughters, Kelli and Kimberly. They were later divorced. He married Vernadene Daniels Beal on May 27, 1994 and gained a stepson, Adrian Beal.
Jack worked as a Barber and at Amana Corporation. He later moved to Colorado and began his career in the cement industry with Martin Marietta. In 1980 he had the opportunity to be a part of the start up crew at the Martin Marietta Leamington, Utah plant, currently known as Ash Grove Cement Company. He held various supervision positions which included maintenance planner, labor/shipping supervisor and production supervisor.
As a young man he enjoyed working on his brother-in-law's family farm where he learned the value of hard work. He loved to golf, rodeo, play racquetball and baseball. He also coached and refereed many youth sports teams. He could often be seen riding his bike around town. He was a member of the Nephi Lions Club and the Nephi Volunteer Fire Department.
Jack's greatest joy in life was his family. He never missed anything his kids and grandkids were involved in - EVER! He was their biggest fan.
He was a true example of service. He was always helping family, friends and neighbors without being asked. Anyone that knew him knew how clean, organized and particular he was.
He is survived by his wife, Vernadene, daughters: Kelli (Tod) Aagard, Kim (Jeff) Stephenson, stepson: Adrian (Paula) Beal, 9 grandchildren: Trevin, Kyler, Mataya, Kassidy, Karlie, Kylee, Jaida, Gadge and Chandler, 4 great grandchildren: Harley, Kreed, Emery and Kovi. He was loved and adored by his family and friends and will be sorely missed.
Graveside services will be held Monday, July 20, 2020 at 11:00 am at Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi, Utah (1200 N 400 E) with military honors.
The family would like to thank Dr. Rasmussen, Dr. Oveson, Home Health and Hospice and anyone else who provided ongoing care. A very special thank you to Eudene and staff at Redcliffs Assisted living for their amazing and loving care.
