JoAnne Horkley Pickren passed away comfortably on April 26th, 2017 under the loving care of Carrington Court Care Center and Active Hospice from complications of heart failure. Mom was born July 13, 1936 in Rexburg, Idaho, to Joseph and Dorthy Horkley.
She spent most of her life in Midvale, Utah once she married my dad Howard Pickren (deceased). Mom and Dad were married over 50 years and provided a comfortable life for me, Jerri Pickren Betts, and my brother James Scott Pickren (deceased).
Mom was a very talented artist, exceptionally intelligent and a great lover of animals. She will be missed.
JoAnne is survived by myself; her grandchildren, Sydney Gayle (Ryon), Alexander Betts, Nathaniel Pickren and Jenna Pickren; her great grandchildren, Ares and Apollo Gayle; siblings, Sharon St. Clair and Jim Horkley (Toni); helper and friend Kim Hogenson. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Howard, son Scott and her brother Joseph (Poky) Horkley. Mom also left behind her loving dogs Jack and Nash who look at me daily with their "missing mom" cocker spaniel eyes.
Mom chose to have her ashes spread in lieu of a funeral. We plan to do that when the flowers are in full bloom in the mountains.
