Joan L. Smith

Joan was born on April 20, 1934 to Amund R.C. Levorsen and Viola May Nokes Levorsen in Salt Lake City, UT. She moved to Murray in 1937.

She attended schools in Murray and graduated from Murray High School 1952. Married Louis Shirley Smith on October 8, 1953 in the Salt Lake City Temple for time and all eternity. Together they had two daughters Melissa and Jolene Smith. Louis passed away on April 18, 1985.

She later married Thomas Frederick “Fred” Griffiths on May 6, 1993 in the Jordan River Temple. He passed away on July 12, 2020.

Preceded in death by her daughters Melissa Smith and Jolene Smith Day, both her parents, three brothers Lamont, Paul, and Don Levorsen and three sisters Afton Padjen, Marjorie Rigby and Faye Marsden, three step children Pat Davies, Fred Darlynn Griffiths and Cheri Erickson.

Survived by her son in law Tim Day; and five grandchildren Caitlin, Timothy W., Kenneth, Nicole, and Kirtly Day; stepdaughter Debbie (Scott) DeNovellis, step daughter-in-law Glenna Griffiths; step son-in-laws Jeff Davies and David Erickson; and many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. 

Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 23rd at 1:00 PM at Midvale City Cemetery, 450 West 7500 South, Midvale.
