Joan Ann Polson peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 29th surrounded by her family. Joan was born on April 26, 1936 in Swansea, Massachusetts to Lillian and Manuel Mello. She was the oldest of 6 children. Joan attended Rogers High School in Massachusetts where she participated in basketball, bowling and the French club. Joan moved to Salt Lake City in 1957 with her first husband Maurice Roundy. They had three daughters, Micki, Laurie and Carolyn. She married Ted Polson October 24, 1969 and together had a daughter, Teddi Jo.

Joan was known for many things such as her great sense of humor and flare for life. Her laugh was infectious and one you could never forget.

Joan was an avid fan of the Utah Jazz and to say that she loved them would be an understatement. Joan would never miss a game. She spent her last days and moments covered by her favorite Jazz blanket.

Joan took great pride in her home and she especially loved working outside on her yard. She also enjoyed compiling and making scrapbooks of her family.

Joan was happiest when she was surrounded by those she loved.

Joan had great pride in her professional career. She worked as a marketing executive for Kmart and opened the first store in Utah. She also worked as a legal secretary for 10 years and later retired from BD Medical. She made life long friends and was remembered for her love and her carrot cake.

Joan was preceded in death by the Love of her life, Ted, as well as her parents, three brothers and one sister. Joan was survived by her sister Kathy, 4 daughters, Micki Wells (Doug), Laurie Tripp (Jim), Carolyn Hendricks (Steve), and Teddi Jo, as well as 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, September 2nd from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State St., Midvale, UT. A graveside service will follow at 1 pm at Redwood Memorial Park, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT.
