Jerrold Leland Jenson

Jerry Jenson, 83, was a loving sweetheart, proud dad, and loyal friend who passed away May 15, following a long battle with COPD. He was surrounded by loved ones at his home in Midvale, Utah.

Jerry was born October 2, 1937, on his grandma's kitchen table in Midvale, to William Leland and Lydia Mae Upshaw Jenson. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1955 and remained a proud Beetdigger his entire life. He attended business school at the University of Utah and worked as a stock broker for many years. He enjoyed golf and duck hunting, was an enthusiastic Jazz and Ute basketball fan, and played gin with his wife daily. The gin games were part of a morning routine that spanned decades and continued until days before his death.

As a proud father and grandfather, Jerry followed the interests and activities of his family very closely. He stayed in touch with his childhood buddies from Midvale throughout his life. The circle of people he focused on was relatively small, but if you were included, it's likely that no one loved you more. He was a quiet observer and man of few words, but when he said something, it was worth hearing and often witty.

Jerry married Susan Jennings in 1960 and they had two daughters, Jennifer Jenson and Stacy (Keith) Clarke. In 1995, he married Carol King Jenson and gained three stepsons, Charles R., Timothy J. (Janice), and Benjamin K. King. He had five grandkids, Gabrielle and Charlie Clarke, and Ashlyn, Hadden, and Camden King. He is survived by those above, and was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Carolyn Jenson Jones, and three cats named Simon.

Jerry was a much loved husband, father, brother, "grampa", uncle, cousin, and friend, and we will miss him and love him forever.

As he wished, his body has been cremated. A memorial open house will be held at a later date to honor and celebrate his life. Details regarding the event will be posted at: https://sites.google.com/view/remembering-jerry-jenson .
