Jerad "Jerry" Kyle Williams, age 93, passed away surrounded by those who loved him most on March 7, 2021 at Riverway Assisted Living in South Jordan, Utah. He was born on April 18, 1927 in Boise, Idaho. Jerry was the 2nd child born to Kyle Lorenzo Williams and Lucille Constance Naylin.
Jerry grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah where he enjoyed playing tag on the rooftops, swinging on the flagpole, and riding the lions at the state capital with his brother and friends. He graduated from Granite High School. He served honorably in the United States Coast Guard and often reminisced about the time he almost burnt the kitchen down when making a grilled cheese sandwich.
Soon after his return from the Coast Guard, he was smitten by a woman he met on the elevator at ZCMI. The woman was Mildred "Millie" Roundy who soon became his wife on January 18, 1947 and was later sealed for all time and all eternity in the SLC Temple on September 5, 1958. He loved and adored the 7 children they raised together in Kearns, Utah.
Jerry was a wonderful provider for his family. In his white overalls, he wore out his knees, hands, and heart for more than 60-years installing linoleum, tile, and then carpet for hundreds of clients across the state of Utah and the surrounding states.
Jerry enjoyed an active life making treasured memories with family and friends. He loved going to Yellowstone. Often, he could be found fishing and some of his favorite stories came from the times he fished on the Henry's Fork of the Snake River. He enjoyed gardening and listening loudly to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Jerry was a faithful lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was often found singing in the ward choir. He served in many callings and most enjoyed serving as the Aaronic Priesthood Advisor.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Millie, his sister Dorothy and his brother Paul. Jerry leaves behind an amazing family legacy and is survived by his half-sisters Nancy Smith, Patti Lovoy, half-brother Naylin Hayes, his children Steven Williams (Lorrie), Craig Williams (Rhonda), Kathy Grasteit (Larry), Brad Williams (Rochelle), Suzanne Namba (Jon), Kelly Williams (Diane), Christine Osborne (Steve), 21 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren who look forward to sharing a bowl of ice cream with him upon being reunited because "we love you most!"
With sincere and heartfelt appreciation, the Williams family thank the staff and professionals at Riverway Assisted Living who cared for and brought love and laughter to Jerry during his two-year stay at Riverway. There were so many people who took such good care of Jerry during this time. The family will forever be grateful to all the staff and to Angelica who kept the family connected through technology during the Covid-19 pandemic.
