Jean Terry Westover, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on February 7, 2025. She was born on July 15, 1932, to Ross Warden Baird and Evelyn Drews Riska in Draper, Utah. Throughout her life, Jean was known for her remarkable strength, warm heart, and commitment to others.
Jean excelled in school and was an active participant at Jordan High School, where she was a member of the chemistry club, a cheerleader, and a baseball player.
On December 20,1949, Jean married Joseph Lynn Terry. After Lynn returned from the Korean conflict, they had two children, Joe and LeAnn. These wonderful years were filled with camping, fishing, and countless get-togethers with cherished family, friends, and neighbors. For many years Jean worked for Doc Sorensen and also at Draper Drug where she greeted and loved everyone who came in. Jean dedicated her time to community service, serving in the PTA, the Primary, as a homemaking leader, and with the Firemen's Auxiliary.
In her later years, Jean and Lynn traveled frequently to the Southwest and Mexico, delivering care packages, sewing machines, clothing and housewares to those in need. They lived a life of service, reaching out to others both near and far, until Lynn's passing in 1998.
Jean was later blessed to meet and marry Ken Westover, joining the Westover family. She and Ken enjoyed winters in St. George, traveled the world, and relished the joy of attending many great-grandchildren's activities and special occasions.
Jean had a deep love for learning about different cultures and people, and her kindness made everyone who met her feel at ease in her presence.
Jean's legacy of love, service, and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but forever remembered in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is survived by her brothers, Craig Baird (Kaye-deceased, Maria), David Cole (Verlene), and sister Brydy Begay; her children, Joseph Allen Terry (Lynn) and LeAnn Terry Gilchrist (Rick); grandchildren, Mandi Johnson (Lance), Morgan Terry (Jen), Ben Terry, Tasha Terry (Wes), and Carli Gilchrist (Dave); and great-grandchildren, Ethan Johnson, Sydney Savage (Devin), Anna Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, Zachary Johnson, and Evelyn Freeman.
