Zelda Jean Holman Bowles, age 82, passed away peacefully July 24, 2019 in Nephi, UT surrounded by her family.
Jean was born January 18, 1937 in Fountain Green, UT to Elmer Lavier and Zelda Ingaborg Jacobson Holman. She was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Moroni High in 1955 where she received many awards and honors. Her education was very important to her. She especially loved music, chorus, playing clarinet in the band and commercial classes. She learned shorthand and bookkeeping and had a passion for both.
Jean met the love of her life, Alvin Clarence Bowles, and got engaged in 1953. He was called off in the Army to Germany and Jean waited 17 months for his return. They were married on June 24, 1955 in the Manti LDS Temple. They were married for 54 wonderful years.
Jean was a hard worker and loved working with numbers. She worked at Parkin Motor Company for 35 1/2 years as a bookkeeper, secretary and accountant. She also worked for Juab County as the county treasurer for 13 years. Jean retired in 2007.
Jean held various church callings throughout her life. She played the piano well and loved to sing. She loved planting and caring for flowers in her garden and was always so proud of her rose bushes. She enjoyed traveling. Jean's greatest joy in life though was her family. She spent countless hours supporting her children and grandchildren in everything they did. She loved watching ballgames, dance recitals, swimming lessons, gymnastics and many other activities they were involved in. If she knew about it, she was there! She loved her family so much and showed us that love with her words and actions. She will be greatly missed.
Jean is survived by her children: Allan (Leslie) Bowles of Richfield, Cheryl (Terry) Kay of Mona, JaNae (Blair) Kay of Mona, Brent (Tammy) Bowles of Nephi; 17 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her loving husband Clarence, her parents and her siblings.
