Jay Duane Carlson, 72, of Sandy, Utah, passed away on January 26, 2024 after a long battle of various health challenges.
Jay was born on October 29, 1951 to Arthur Williams Carlson and Beverly Jean Esmeyer in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Jay graduated from Skyline High School in 1970.
After graduating Jay served a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Australia East Mission and spent one year in Sydney, New South Wales, and one year in Queensland.
In the spring of 1975, Jay met Janet Carlson at a dance in Holladay, Utah. Jay married Janet on October 9, 1975 in Salt Lake City, Utah and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1978. Jay and Janet went on to have three children, Cathy, Mark, and Jennifer (Jen).
Jay was raised in a family owned business, A&R Meats which his dad and uncle owned. He started as a teenager and worked for twenty years with the family business working up the ladder and learned many different job skills, the last job position being plant manager.
Jay later in his career, worked for Unsource as a service tech for nineteen years.
Jay loved football and his favorite NFL Team was the Dallas Cowboys. He loved music and his favorite bands were the Beatles and the Beach Boys. He enjoyed getting in the car and going for long drives. He also loved taking care of his yard.
Jay was predeceased by death by his parents, his sister Karen (Duff) Brown, and brother James Carlson (Jimmy). Jay is survived by his loving wife Janet, brother Denny (Marci) Carlson, brother David, sister Sherry (Greg) Sachs, and Beverly (Ken) Salaman, daughter Cathy (Christopher) Camacho, son Mark, and daughter Jennifer (Timothy) Houston, and six grandchildren; Matthew, Ashleigh, Willow, Joshua, Dakota, and Ethan.
Services will be held at Anderson & Goff Mortuary on February 3, 2024 at 11 am with a viewing 1 hour before. The interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah.
Our Family would like to thank all the many doctors, nurses, IHC medical hospital and staff, and especially Atlas Home Care and Hospice for their gentle and loving care.
