Janice Jean Dumas
Janice Jean Malstrom Dumas died peacefully on June 7th from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Janice was born August 3, 1935 in Sandy, Utah, to Glenn and Alice "Henrietta" Malstrom. She often told stories of helping her mamma and grandma around the house and family farm, and found comfort in these memories as she reached the end of her life.
When the love of her life, Don, was stationed with the Army during the Korean War, Janice promised to wait for him. She wrote to him faithfully, but upon his return insisted that the letters be burned. Those words, she explained, were just for him. This is telling of how she lived her life; privately and sincerely devoted to the people she loved.
Throughout her life, Janice created a peaceful and welcoming home, not only for her family but for everyone seeking comfort and friendship. Later in life, Janice pursued a profession in the medical field. However, her compassionate heart proved bigger than her ability to see people suffer, and she soon decided to turn her attention back to her family, which by then included her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Janice found joy in simple things; a good book, a warm cup of coffee, the flowers in her garden, and laughing with her family. Never asking for anything, she gave so willingly.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Glenn and Frank. Her beloved husband, Don, passed away only weeks before her. Her family finds peace in knowing that the answer to her often asked question, "Where's Don?" will now forever be the same. She is survived by their children; Clayton Dumas (Barbara), Darlene Stillman (John, deceased), Donna Blackett (Ed), Alison Butterfield (Troy) and Duane Dumas (Carrie). She is also survived by her sister Loris. Memories of Janice will lovingly be shared by her family and all who were blessed to know her.

A graveside service will be held to honor Janice on Thursday, June 10th at 11:00 am at the Sandy City Cemetery (9000 S. 700 E).
