Janice Corrine Garrett

Janice Corrine Garrett returned to be with her loved ones peacefully on December 17, 2019 at the age of 88 in Payson, Utah. She was dearly loved by all her family and she loved each of them and made them feel special.

She was born in Nephi, Utah on October 27, 1931 at the Jones family home to Robert Pixton and Erma Jones Garrett. She was the sixth child in a family that included Joe, Lucy (Sanders), Afton (Lambert), Ross, and Elizabeth (baby).

She contracted polio at a young age but she worked hard to overcome its affects. She had a Schwinn bike that gave her the mobility to keep up with friends on many adventures. She graduated from Juab High School and then attended Utah State University.

She began working at an early age at the Serv (also known as Garrett Service). Even though some said she couldn't work because of her polio she worked for many years at Thermoid, Dr. Steele's Medical Clinic and as city recorder for Nephi City. She was an example to all.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many ward callings including Young Women secretary, Librarian and Ward Bulletin specialist for many years. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel that she shared through her example.

She was a member of the Nautalis Club and enjoyed the many friendships she had with the ladies in the group.

Corrine was a very compassionate, loving person who touched so many lives. The family will remember her beautiful handiwork done to perfection, carrot cakes, Texas Sheet cake, Divinity and Green Sweet Pickles. The children in the family (and many others) will remember getting a $2 bill for Christmas. She loved children and enjoyed spoiling them. Most of all she will be remembered for the twinkle in her eye and her smile that would light up the room and bring joy to those around.

She was a lifelong resident of Nephi who cherished the daily visits from family and friends. She was the best listener. She has said many times that she wanted everyone to know how much she loved and appreciated them and all they did for her. She will be missed and remembered by many who look forward to seeing her again.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 21 at 11:00 am at the Nephi North Stake Center, (1125 North 400 East) with a viewing prior to the funeral from 9:30 to 10:45 at the church. Interment will be at the Vine Bluff Cemetery.
