James "Jim" Melton Woods Jr., 76, of Midvale Utah, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 2, 2021, at George E Wahlen Veterans Hospital. Jim was born February 16, 1945, in Bennettsville, SC, son of the late James Melton Woods Sr and Mary L Gerald, both of South Carolina.
James cherished every day he was able to be here on this earth. He always woke up and said I am grateful for another day. He loved the beach and everything it had to offer, especially fresh seafood. James was a Vietnam veteran and so proud to have served his country. He was active from July 8, 1965 to July 1,1971. James was married twice in his lifetime but found his soulmate in Dottie Eugley. They were married November 2, 1985. James survived numerous health conditions, one being a tumor in his chest cavity. After that it was his life's mission to serve and help others that were fighting their own cancer battles. Jim cherished his family and spending time with them and watching his grandkids and great grandkids grow.
James is survived by his family: son, Philip Capizzi and wife Sharon of Mesquite, NV; granddaughter Jill Ozur and husband Keith; and great-granddaughters Madison, Emma and Erika; his children Gina Sechser (Mark, Tiffany, Hailey, & Hunters), Jimmy, Matt; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and numerous other friends and family.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life Dottie, son Kenneth, father James Melton Woods Sr, Mother Mary Gerald and so many others.
Services will be held privately.
