James Stuart Nebeker

"PAW"

James Stuart Nebeker, a man of integrity and without guile, returned home on November 2, 2016.

He was born in Laketown, Utah on December 9, 1921 to Hazelton and Florence Kearl Nebeker. He graduated from East High School and the University of Utah. After serving in the Army during WWII, he married Norma Ruth Belich on August 15, 1946. His degree in metallurgical engineering took them to California, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and back to Utah where he retired as a smelting consultant for the Kennecott Minerals corporate group.

As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served diligently in many callings including home teacher and bishop. For more that 20 years he participated in a weekly sealing group at the Jordan River Temple with Norma and continued on after her death for 5 more years. They also served as church service missionaries in the member locator department.

He enjoyed "puttering" around his home and yard, reading voraciously and collecting gadgets of every kind. His family always came first. He loved them unconditionally.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Hazelton Nebeker; sister, Dorothy Morris; and his wife, Norma, who was the "wind beneath his wings."

He will be missed and remembered by his sisters, Marjorie Campbell and Lauramay Baxter, his daughter, Tanya Johnson (Scott); son, Christopher Nebeker (Sherry); grandchildren: Shannon Yoder (Kevin), Jennifer Johnson, Jamie Moake (Tim), Matthew Johnson (Amber), Bryce Nebeker (Alyssa), and Kelly Dettinger (Josh); as well as 15 great-grands. "Paw" leaves a void that can't be filled in the home of Matt and Amber and their children Noah, Caleb, Cameron, and Rylie with whom he lived for seven years. Thank you.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Little Cottonwood 5th Ward LDS Chapel, 6350 S. Rodeo Lane (1545 East). A viewing will be held prior to the services from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in the Midvale City Cemetery.
