James Delbert Garlick left this mortal existence to return to his Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ on January 3, 2017. Jim was born on July 14, 1976 to Dale Eugene Garlick and Betty Shappie Garlick in Provo, Utah. He was the sixth of nine children. He was raised in the Utah County area and attended schools in Lindon, American Fork, Provo and Payson, Utah.
Jim met Misdy Ann Spencer in the St. George area in the year 2000. They were married on February 24, 2001. They were later sealed in the St. George Temple in August of 2004. He and Misdy had six children; Zackary, McKalie, Nathan, Jesse, Madison and Casey. They lived in the St. George, Leeds, Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs areas. At the time of his passing he was living in Mona, Utah.
Jim worked as an industrial mechanic and electrician. He attended Dixie State University. Jim was a fire fighter and EMT with the Santa Clara Fire Department. He served as ward mission leader, second counselor in the Bishopric and was on the High Council. He was in charge of the stake baptisms, which was his favorite thing. He looked forward to them every month.
Jim had many talents and hobbies. He loved to cook and barbecue. He was an accomplished welder and was able to repair anything. He loved playing the guitar and bass guitar. He was self taught and loved "jamming" with his brothers Doug, Sam, and Tom. He was a friend to everyone and was always there to lend a helping hand or just listen. His greatest talent was loving his children. He cherished the time he had with them, whether it was fishing, tossing a baseball, or just snuggling while watching a movie.
James was preceded in death by his grandfather Delbert Shappie, grandmother Mary Crosby, grandmother Beth Wilkinson Garlick, uncle Frank Shappie, aunt Doris Fields, cousins Renee Fields, Jason Shappie, Terynn Garlick, and nephew Jeremy Cobb.
