James Brent Bowles

Our loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Friend to all he came in contact with, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at home with his family. Brent was born September 19, 1940 to James Simmons and Ione Peterson Bowles in Murray, Utah. Brent began this life as a little toe headed boy, with a heart of gold. He was raised in a farming community in Herriman, Utah. Brent graduated from Jordan High School in 1958. Soon after he graduated high school, he began working at Albertsons where he met the love of his life, his sweetheart, Sheila. Brent and Sheila were married September 7, 1963, and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, September 14, 1970. They were blessed with 7 children that completed their family. Brent had a strong testimony in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, this was evident up until the day he passed away. He devoted himself to his many church callings. He was a pure example of what it means to be Christlike. From a young age, he learned hard work, and service from his Dad's example. After working at Albertsons, Brent went on to open his own meat shop, and worked side by side with his son Richard. Family was everything to Brent, and he did everything for his family. Brent loved supporting his grandchildren, and great grandchildren in all that they did, especially going to games and recitals. He was always there cheering them on, win or loss. He adored and cherished every moment he spent with them. He always made sure to tell them often that he loved them, Bigga Bigga Bunch. Brent's other passion in life was his horses. You would often find him out showing them off at horse pulls, or parades, along with his wagon full of his family. Brent took pride in shining their harnesses, and painting their hooves with glitter and making them purdy! Brent was known to make friends wherever he went. He had a way about him by making all he came in contact with feel loved, and special. Brent will be remembered by all with his great smile, and twinkle in his eye.

We miss him so much, but know that families are eternal, and we will see him again. Brent is survived by his eternal sweetheart Sheila, children Tammy (Brett), Brenda (Steve), Richard (Marlene), Alayna (Kevin), Sandra (Murry), 19 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his 2 sisters Linda (Lynn), and Marjean (Kevin) who meant so much to him. Brent is preceded in death by his loving parents, brother Richard, and sons Cary and Brian.

A viewing to honor Brent will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 6 pm-8 pm at Goff Mortuary (8090 S State Street). Funeral services will be held Monday, October 26, 2020 at the Midas Creek 7th Ward, located at 10860 S 3200 W at 11:00 am, with a viewing from 9:45 am to 10:45 am.
