James Harvey Andreasen

James Harvey Andreasen, age 86, passed away on January 3, 2018 at his home in Mona, UT. He spent the last days in life surrounded by his entire family who adored him. Jim was born on September 27, 1931 to Frank M Andreasen and Lauree Hatton near the #1 Mine in Atolia, CA; the second of five children. Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patti; 2 children, Dennis (Melody) Andreasen and Tammie (Randy) Reber; 4 grandchildren, Cove Reber, Rachel (Taylor) Barlow, Walker (Kayla) Andreasen, and Emma Reber; 6 great-grandchildren, Brody Andreasen, Russ Andreasen, Althea Andreasen, Paisley Andreasen, Ember Andreasen, and Pepper James Barlow; and 3 brothers, Bert, Frank, and Gary. His beloved sister Delsa preceded him in death.

Jim's family moved to Santaquin, UT, where he attended grade school, until moving to the Naval Ordinance Test Station (NOTS) in China Lake, CA. After graduating from Sherman E. Burroughs High School in Ridgecrest, CA, Jim became a backhoe operator and later owned his own business, Holly Hoe. Jim married Patricia A. O'Connell on July 26, 1957 and they made their home in Ridgecrest until 2005, when they moved to Mona, UT.

He loved his BYU Cougars and hunting, but his true joy came from his family, especially his grand- and great-grandchildren. To them he was Papa Jimmy and they loved to hear his stories and chances to rough-house with him.

Jim was affectionately known by many as Uncle Andy and loved his adopted Downey family as his own.

Graveside interment will be Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Benjamin Cemetery with a luncheon and memorial at 12:30 pm in the Mona 2nd Ward building at 100 N. 100 E. in Mona.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jim's name to your favorite charity.
