Howard Alma Petersen

Howard Alma Petersen (HAP) was born July 29,1969 and unexpectedly passed away November 17, 2022.

Howard was born to Carl Duane Petersen and Betty Jane Bollschweiler Woolsey.

Howard was raised in the community of Granite, where he  loved to ride bikes, be outside and enjoy the life of just being a boy.

He quickly learned how to tear things apart and put them right back together. He loved to work with his hands.  This love to work with his hands followed him into adulthood from tearing apart bikes and fixing them to tearing cars apart and fixing them. He was always there to change your brakes, to fix a water pump, or to put an engine back together again.

Howard went to Alta High School and when the family moved to Cedar Valley he attended Lehi High school.

After High School he went to work doing sprinklers, and then worked installing siding on houses which he continued off and on through his life. He also drove for Furniture  Warehouse. But his favorite job was working with AAA barricade. He was there for close to 10 years. He loved this job, even though he worked in the heat of the day, the darkness of night, in rain and snowy weather he just plain loved this job. As much as he loved this job he loved his dog Kiaha more. She was his best friend and faithful companion for close to 10 years. When Kiaha died 2 years ago a part of him died along with her.

Howard developed a condition called COPD around 2 years back and was told his lungs were gone. He struggled with this diagnosis everyday having to quit a job he loved and having to change his lifestyle.

Unfortunately this all caught up to him last Thursday as his girlfriend Kristy rushed him to the hospital in the early hours of the morning. Thank you Kristy for trying to help Howard even though it was a rough path for you two, you were there in the end and that is what counts.

We would like to thank the emergency staff and Doctors at Lone Peak Hospital that spent hours trying to save his life. Their gentleness and understanding was remarkable until his final breath.

Howard leaves behind his beloved mother Jane Woolsey, stepfather Karl Perry Woolsey, brothers Rick Petersen, Bevan Ferguson, Lonnie Petersen, sisters Debbie Martin, Patty Petersen, Julia Bay, Marcy Smith, sister-in-law Amy Petersen and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death  by his Dad  Carl Petersen whom he missed dearly and welcomed him with open arms, and his partner in crime in their growing years his brother John Petersen that passed just 4 months ago.  He is enjoying the reunion of a nephew and many aunts, uncles and grandparents.

A private family viewing will be held Monday, November 21, 2022  at Goff Mortuary in Midvale.  Graveside services will be at Elysian Gardens in Millcreek, 1075 East 4580 South at 12 noon. This is open for anyone that knows Howard and would like to attend.

You have grasped to breathe in the last few years, now grasp the open arms of the people who love you, grasp forgiveness and understanding, and run and not be weary.
