A Very Loved Man
Henry Martin Bowen was born March 24, 1940 to Joseph Martin and Beth Beckstead Bowen in Murray, Utah. He passed away in his home, May 23, 2019 after a courageous battle with ALS.
Henry was a true man of faith. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including bishoprics, financial clerk and even digging holes as a missionary at girls' camp at the JR Property. He served his neighbors and community as irrigation water master for years. No matter what he was called to do, he gave it his never-ending energy and heart. Whether family, friends, or neighbors, Henry went out of his way to help.
Raised on a dairy farm, he knew the value of hard work, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Throughout his career he worked as a precision sheet metal technician and in research and development. He retired from Kennecott after twenty-two years as a maintenance foreman.
He attended Jordan High School where he met his sweetheart of 61 years. RaNae and Henry were married April 2, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent their early years of marriage in Riverton, Roy, and Kaysville. West Jordan became their permanent home in 1964 where they raised their four children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Danny, and his grandson Tyler. He is survived by his wife RaNae Hale Bowen and their four children and spouses: Norm (Natalie), Wayne (Laura), Steve (Debra), Annette (Tony) Potter; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters and four brothers: Sylvia, Eugene, Ralph, Joe, Ruth Ann, Morris, and numerous loved ones and family members.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street, Midvale. Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at West Jordan 4th Ward, 7171 South 2700 West, West Jordan, with a viewing an hour prior.
