Helen Stuart Barnes, 94, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2019 at Harmony Hills Assisted Living in Lehi, Utah.
Helen was born on November 4, 1924 to Russell Hendry and Caroline Brown Stuart of Wellsville, Utah. They moved to the Los Angeles area during the depression. Mom said, "Dad worked on the farm and Ma put up all sorts of vegetables." They never went with out food during this time. They moved to Nephi, Utah when she was about 17 years old. She graduated from Juab High School in Nephi, Utah in 1942.
Helen married the love of her life, Keith Merrill Barnes on September 1, 1944 in Bernard, Florida and on May 4, 1945 they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple, they were married for 29 years before he passed away on November 16, 1973.
Helen worked with her brother, father and her husband in the Nephi Café. A few years later she and her husband bought and ran a Spud Nut shop for a few years in Orem until they sold it and went into the motel business where it took them to Safford, Arizona for 3 years. They then bought a motel in Lufkin, Texas where Helen lived until September 2017, when she moved to Utah. The past several months, she has lived at Harmony Hills and she loved everyone there and they loved her. We really appreciate all the love that everyone gave her.
Helen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had many callings from Relief Society to Primary. Her favorite was working with the little children and listening to them sing. She loved the Lord and wanted to serve.
