H. Ronald Turner

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather Henry Ronald (Ron) Turner passed away quietly March 25, 2015 from complications due to pancreatic cancer. Ron was born May 18, 1947 to Clayton and Anna Turner. He grew up and has lived his entire life in Midvale, Utah, save for the two years he served in the Southern Australia Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If you were to ask him, he would tell you it was the best thing that he ever did, despite the car accident that took the use of his left hand; an injury that he never let slow him down.

Ron attended Midvale Elementary, Midvale Middle School and was one of the first few classes to graduate from Hillcrest High School. He also attended BYU for a time, and was ever after a lifelong fan. He married Susan Maughan in the Salt Lake Temple on August 6, 1981, after they met in the Murray 26th Singles Ward. Susan was first impressed by Ron's ability to play baseball one handed and the rest is history. They were happily married for 34 years. During that time, Ron worked for the Facilities Management group for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In his spare time, he enjoyed bird watching, sports watching and teaching his two daughters about the finer things in life, namely: basketball, nature, the great Bella Lugosi as Dracula, Abbott and Costello, and great literature. One of the great joys of Ron's life was serving in many different callings in the LDS church, including high counselor, Sunday School teacher and bishopric counselor. He was known and loved throughout the city of Midvale and will be greatly missed. He loved his time as a grandfather and his grandchildren have fond memories of sitting in his lap and reading books together.

Ron is survived by his wife Susan, daughters Rachel (John) Ward and Emily (Adam) Townsley, sister Carolyn (Clair) Baldwin, sister-in-law, Judy May and seven grandchildren with one on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Anna Turner and his brother Jim Turner.

Services will be held Monday March 30 at the Midvale 7th Ward Chapel (8350 S. Jackson St.) at 11:00am. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary (8090 S. State St.) Sunday March 29 from 6:00 to 8:00 and Monday morning at the church from 9:45 until 10:45. Interment will be at Midvale Cemetery.
