Gwen L. Woolstenhulme left this eternal life early in the morning on February 6, 2024. She didn't want to wait around any longer, she had waited almost 17 years to see her sweetheart again.
Mom was born on August 29, 1930 in Coalville, Utah. She had three older siblings, so I'm sure she was spoiled from day one. She often talked about the fact that they didn't have a lot growing up, but she said they were happy as could be. Grandma Larsen raised five children by herself and you just learned to be happy and content with what you had.
Mom was a darling little girl and many people in Coalville loved to spoil her. She spent her years up in Coalville, attending N.S.
Gwen began her lifelong endeavor as a Mom and business partner at a very young age. She gave birth to Don one week after turning 17. The other three children came along with approximately two years in between each one. If the math is correct she was the mother of four at the age of 23 or 24, living in a three-room home in Oakley, all six people sharing a bedroom and no indoor plumbing. She delighted in buying matching shirts for everyone for the 4th of July celebration. She and Sherdon, along with a brother and his wife, purchased the Spring Chicken Inn in 1956. It was there she spent the next 30 years as a partner to her eternal partner.
She was a Primary Teacher and member of BPW for years. She loved traveling and attended the National Columbia Sheep Show all over the U.S. and always at State Fairs.
She attended lots of sports events over the years with her sons and grandchildren that were involved. When her sons were in sports they provided banquets for all the teams.
After many years of hard work they retired and moved to St. George to enjoy life and each other. They loved to golf and were members of the Bloomington Country Club. We all enjoyed visits to St. George where we were spoiled for sure.
When health began to decline they moved back to Wanship to their house. They loved being home with family and spent countless hours with them.
Mom passed away at Family Tree in Morgan on February 6, 2024. She made many friends while there.
We want to thank the staff at Family Tree and Encompass Health for all their service and love shown to Mom.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 9, 2024, at 12:00 noon at the Wanship LDS Church. There will be a viewing on Thursday, February 8 from 6:00-7:30 pm, and also Friday from 10:30-11:30 am, all at the church. Interment, Oakley Cemetery.
