Gretta Aramyan passed away at Riverton Hospital from Covid at the age of 81 with her daughter and grandson at her side on Friday November 12, 2021 around 12:50 AM. Gretta was born in Azerbaijan in the city of Zagatala on November 29, 1939 to her mother Evgeniya and her father Hachatur and lived with her 3 sisters. Growing up she always lived at home and helped her mom to take care of her two younger sisters, and lived through very tough times, there was the Great Patriotic War, poverty, hunger and generally a difficult life, her mom sent her to the neighbor's houses to borrow food, like potatoes, or sugar, everything was scarce and hard to come by, that even one day she found a large gold ring, and she brought it to her mother, which they sold so they could buy food. She used to love to sing, and always wanted to. She had such a beautiful voice, growing up she always wanted to run outside and play with the other children but her mother did not allow it, she grew up in a tough place during extreme time's. She had to grow up fast and started working at a young age.
In the year 1960 she got married to a man named Vladimir, he was a good man. Then following that she gave birth to her first child which she named after her mother Evgeniya in the year 1962, in the next year 1963 she gave birth to her last child Marina. Gretta always worked hard, and for many hours, she worked for a long time at a Chemical Plant as an Operator, where she climbed large chemical containers like towers with little to no safety measures in place, she turned the weal to the pipes and containers all day, it was a very physical and demanding job. Working there eventually promoted the growth of breast cancer, which when removed later in life, caused physical problems, as the doctors that operated on her took away most of her pectoral tissue, so lifting her arm was very difficult if not nearly impossible, and painful at that. But to her it was all worth it so her family could live a good life and her daughters could be as happy and taken care of as possible.
On February 27-29 1988, there was massive violence to the extent of genocide of the Armenian population, terrors that cannot be spoken of happened then, and she and her daughters had hid to survive. Her husband died a short time after all of that, so they fled to Moscow Russia, and they waited until the American embassy could give them refugee status, they waited 6 years, but during that time her daughter Marina, her second daughter, was married and pregnant with Gretta's fist granddaughter that was named Diana, and when they got their refugee status Gretta and her two younger sisters, her nephew, and her daughter, all moved to America to Utah, the first to move there where her two younger sisters, Suzana and Nina, and nephew Alec, and before long she had a new nephew named Nathen, then 6 years later after Gretta's Sister moved, her daughter Evgeniya moved to Utah, while Gretta stayed in Russia to help take care of her daughter Marina and her 2 new granddaughter's Victoria and Valeria, which all lived in Moscow, and then 2 years later Gretta came to Utah to live with and help her daughter Evgeniya raise her last grandchild Alex.
She lived in America for 21 years, and during that time she enjoyed living there, she loved to go shopping, and to get groceries with her daughter Evgeniya, she loved how beautiful Utah looked, she would sometimes go fishing with her family, and she loved to cook delicious food for everyone, her grandchildren and nephew's all adored her cooking, her pie's and her french fries, if they could only eat that for every meal for the rest of their lives you can bet they would. she always smiled and always saw the best of people's qualities and of life itself, to her family she was everything and will continue to be, we dearly miss her, it's very difficult, but we know she is in a better place, and will always be with us no matter what for the rest of our lives. She was one of the strongest people we knew, if not the strongest, her legs were swollen and she had type 2 diabetes, her wrist was broken and her other shoulder broken, she had her second breast removed from when she had breast cancer, and took care of everyone non the less, she loved to clean the house and did clean every day, she cooked every day too, she never complained about anything, and she never asked for help, she was the type of person to never think of herself, but only thought of the people she cared about, she even prayed every single night of her life for everyone to be good, and everything in life to be fine, she thanked god every day no matter what happened. Gretta was always the brightest light in our life, when we were around her we could laugh with her for hours until we had tears in our eye's, and we could talk all day. When we were sad she always knew what to say and what to do, when we were sick or hurt she took care of us with everything she could do, she was the type of person that brought warmth, comfort, and peace into any room or situation, with her gone things are hard, but she never wanted to see us cry, so even though we miss her, we will be strong, because we love her more than anything else, and everyone that met her could feel her joy and love, and they loved her back. Gretta was a mother for many, she was also a grandmother for many, but mainly she was the greatest inspiration for us. We dearly miss her, and will keep her in a special place in our hearts forever. We love you so much Gretta. May you rest in peace comforted by God's profound and eternal love.
