Gordon Bowers Linton passed away in Payson, Utah, on July 10, 2023 of causes due to old age. Gordon was born on October 21, 1933 in Nephi, Utah, to his parents Leonard and Lillian Linton. He was one of 6 children. He lived in Nephi throughout his growing-up years, attending Juab High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Gayle Lynn, and they enjoyed many, many years together, including 6 months stationed in Germany while he was in the Army.
Gayle and Gordon were blessed with 4 children: Tonya (Glen) Campbell, Dayna (Glen) Whittier, Troy (Maria) Linton and Gregory (Becky) Linton. He has 17 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
He has lived in various places throughout his life: Nephi and Provo, Utah, Santa Maria and Lompoc, California, Phoenix, Arizona, and Hacienda Heights, California, where he has lived for the last 50 years.
Gordon earned his bachelor's degree from Arizona State University and worked for various companies. He accompanied his wife on many trips to various parts of the world, from the South Pacific islands, and throughout Europe, visiting places such as Tahiti, Western Samoa, Hawaii, New Zealand, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Romania, Sweden, Norway, Britain, Denmark, Greece, and Turkey.
He was a lifetime active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, holding various callings in the church. He was known for his laughter and the love of his family. He loved hunting, and he loved playing and watching all sports and rodeos. He especially loved giving his grandchildren rides in his completely restored 1953 Chevrolet Pickup.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ray and Kent, sisters Marjorie and Thelma, and his lovely wife Gayle. He was survived by his sister Helen.
His viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. on July 28, 2023 at the Mona Ward building, with the funeral following at 11:00 a.m.
