Glen A Linnebach

Glen A Linnebach, a handsome husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, friend to many, passed away October 4, 2024. Glen will be greatly missed by all those who got to know him during his 95 years on earth. He was a faithful and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We are comforted by the fact that Beverly, his wife of 64 years, was there to meet him upon his passing. They had been separated for the last 3093 days, since her death on April 16, 2016. They now get to resume their loving courtship for time and eternity. Glen was born on May 9th, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Art and Ethel Linnebach. He grew up in the Salt Lake Valley with his five sisters, Lois, Carol, Diane, Maureen and Gwen, and one brother, Gary, all preceding him in death. In his teen years, Glen worked a short time for his father, this would be the only “boss” he would ever work for. At 24, he started his own business, GA Linnebach Engineering & Construction, and for the next 25 years would engineer and construct many large projects around the Salt Lake valley. One fateful night in 1951, at the car hop on 2700 South and State Street, Glen met a girl named Beverly. They went to the Legion-Manor club that night and dance and talked till closing time. Being the gentleman that he was, he offered to drive Beverly home but, on the way, they stopped at a diner and talked all night long. Glen was “hooked”, the Glen and Beverly adventure began. Beverly and Glen partnered in the construction business until 1974, at which time they retired leaving a legacy of many projects, including seven wonderful parks in Salt Lake County.

In retirement, and before, Glen and Beverly spent winters in Cabo San Lucas fishing for tuna and marlin and exploring the waters up and down the coastline of Mexico in the many boats named “Miss Beverly”. In August they would head for British Columbia for the salmon runs, and venture to Rivers Inlet to catch their fill of Kings and Silvers.

He is survived by two children, Sandra Gayle Maylett-Wood, and Shawn Michael Linnebach as well as his grandchildren – Nicole, Shawn, Glen, Shahara, and Sara, and 12 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren (soon to be 6). Glen was preceded in death by his loving wife Beverly, his parents, sisters & brother, and son James N Linnebach.

We will miss the visits with Grandpa Glen listening to him tell the stories of his and Beverly’s life long adventures….the hunting camp stories of the past 80 years in Utah and the adjoining states, the fishing stories in the lakes of Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Cabo San Lucas, and British Columbia, being chased down by a UFO somewhere around the Utah/Wyoming border in the late 1950’s with Beverly’s steadfast statement “but I don’t think we were abducted.” And many more that we will cherish for years to come. Although you have left an enormous hole to fill, your Legacy will live on in the stories told of you for generations to come.
