Glen R. Brown

Draper, Utah -  Our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, brother, and friend, Glen R. Brown, passed away at the age of 93 on February 29, 2016 at the home of his daughter. He was a true Patriarch of our family. Glen was born on September 5, 1922 in Draper, Utah to Ray Brown and Melba Fotheringham. He was the eldest of four children. He attended Jordan High School, where he met the love of his life Merle Tripp. They were sealed, for time and eternity, in the LDS Temple. On December 27 of this year they would have celebrated 74 years together. Dad joined the Navy in 1943, and served on a Motor Torpedo Boat, for two years in the South Pacific. He had such a love for his country and enjoyed his service. One of his fondest memories was going back to Washington D.C. this past October as a member of the Honor Flight for WWII vets. He was extremely successful as a Salesman and Stock Broker.

Dad also had a love of sports. He coached baseball from little league through American Legion.  He organized the first Skyline High American Legion team.  He also coached church basketball for many years. When he wasn't actively on the field with one of his own teams, he could be found watching any one of his grandchildren or great grandchildren and coaching or cheering them on from the sidelines. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and especially golf. He golfed well into his golden years. Most importantly Dad would make a friend of any stranger he met. There were no strangers in his life, only friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Merle Tripp Brown, and brother, Robert Brown and great great granddaughter, Vivian Kate Brown. He is survived by his three children, Carol, David (Jan) and Lee (Pat), 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis, and his sister, Joy Ann.

The Brown family would like to thank Hearts for Hospice, especially Evan and Libby, for helping to make Dads life a little more comfortable during his final days.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah. A viewing will be held 1 hour prior to the services. Interment, Midvale City Cemetery.
