Geri Thomas

Our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Geraldine "Geri" Austin Thomas passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, April 28, 2017 after a valiant 7-year battle with her illness.

A blonde haired, Geri was born August 21, 1950 to Don J and Shirley Austin, the third daughter of four. She met the love of her life and eternal companion, Ed, at an American Fork vs Lehi football game and were high school sweethearts. Geri graduated from American Fork High School in May 1968. Ed and Geri married in June that same year and they had five children. Their marriage was solemnized in the Provo Temple on February 14, 1979.

Geri spent her years raising her children, taking family vacations to Yellowstone, riding on the Harley, driving her RZR and hula hooping around the house. Once all the children had moved out, one of the bedrooms was remodeled to house her shoe and boot collection.

Geri had many church callings and loved serving the Lord through those callings, compassionate services, librarian and Sunday school teacher were among her favorites.

Geri has taught her family and all who knew her that no matter what life hands you, you meet it head on with grace, dignity, courage, and faith and endure to the end with a smile and love in your heart.

Geri is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ed, five children, Marni (Jim) Ruller, Jason (Nesha) Thomas, Justin (Amy) Thomas, Ashlee (Jason) Scadden and Amber (Jared) Pettit, 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 3 sisters.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Shirley Austin and mother-in-law, Gladys Thomas.
