Gerald Leo Olson, age 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Dec. 11, 2014.
Jerry was born March 25, 1931 to Anthon Leo Olson and Zina Miles Olson of Midvale, Utah. He was the youngest of four children. He married Marilyn Day of Draper, Utah on Sept 12, 1952, later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple.
He was always active in sports as a youth, and throughout his life enjoyed golf and tennis. After graduating from Jordan High School Jerry attended the University of Utah where he lettered in tennis and received his Bachelor's Degree and later his Master's Degree in Business.
Jerry had a strong work ethic and was employed at Hercules for 16 years. He continued and enjoyed his career with Bush and Gudgell Engineering until he retired at age 75. He also served our country as a member of the Air Force, retiring after 25 years as a Lt. Colonel.
He was a very generous and caring father and grandfather. He supported his family in their various interests and activities. The family will greatly miss visiting Jerry, enjoying his sense of humor and wisdom.
Survived by his daughters, Christine O. Martin, Orem; Alyssa (Steven) Bailey, South Jordan; Shannon (R. Darron) Heaton, Taylorsville; grandchildren, Megan, Jessica, Spencer, Bryson, Zachary, and Blake; two great-grandchildren, Brynnley and London; and his brother, Richard (Jane) Olson. Preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, son Ryan, sisters Ivagene Thompson and Barbara Newbold.
A family visitation will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 10:45 a.m. with a family service to follow at 12:00 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State Street, Midvale. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
