Gerald €Œjerry†Schow

Gerald Stanley Schow (Jerry) passed away and was at last released from his earthly concerns and limitations on Friday, March 25, 2016. He passed away at his home where he longed to be with his faithful kitty Polly by his side. In his final days his only thoughts were for the welfare of his family, especially for his wife of 61 years to whom he showed great love and compassion. To be home with his loved ones (including the furry ones) was the goal he finally achieved only hours before he was called home to be with family and friends on the other side.

Jerry was born on December 31, 1933 in Lehi, Utah, a son of Ivan Stanley Schow and Lucille Stoker Schow. The family later moved to Granite where Jerry attended school in a one room schoolhouse. After he graduated from Jordan High School in 1952, he attended Brigham Young University. He married Geraldine (Gerry) Thomson on March 10, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple. He built their home in Midvale, Utah. He was employed at Whitmore Oxygen Company, where he was a diligent employee for 45 years. He was a devoted husband and dad. He enjoyed family parties and watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow and celebrate their milestones.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Mary (Mark) Murray, Ken (Julie) Schow, and Cathy (Peter) Warnick; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grand children; and fur babies, Polly, Ollie, and Melody. Jerry is also survived by his sister, Janette (Ralph) Gull; brothers, Michael (Sharon) Schow, Bruce (Jan) Schow; and many nieces and nephews. He has been reunited with his parents who have preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 7699 Chad Street. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 11:00 - 11:45 a.m. A viewing will also be held Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the church from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Interment, Sandy City Cemetery.
