Gerald Dale Ball (age 87) passed away peacefully on February 7, 2021 in Heber City, Utah. Gerald was born on November 15, 1933 to Sheriff Bert Ball and Lilian Diston Ball in Coalville, Utah. He graduated from North Summit High School. He married Sharon Mitchell Ball on December 14, 1957 in Coalville, Utah. Gerald joined the Army in 1955 and was later honorably discharged with the Marksman Badge w/Carbine Bar and Good Conduct Medal. Gerald was a hardworking man, and held many jobs through the years to support his family.
During his younger years he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, and Hercules, and enjoyed part-time bartending at the local Bunny's Bar. After 26 years as a machinist he retired from the Holicum Cement.
Gerald truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. He enjoyed daily walks, attending North Summit home sporting events, and gardening. As an avid sports fan you could always find him cheering on the Boston Red Sox, Green Bay Packers, and of course the North Summit Braves. He was also known for his pristine garden. Gerald always planted more food than his family could eat, so he was quick to share around the town. There was no better neighbor than Gerald Ball. He was always the first to reach out, or take care of the widows in the neighborhood.
Gerald's family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his wife Sharon Mitchell Ball, daughter Teresa (Mark) Stolt, son Ronald (Jacqueline) Ball, sister Colleen (Floyd) Shultz, grandkids Dustin (Amberly) Sutton, Tiffany (Paul) Brown, Glory Ball, Brandon (Meg) Ball.
He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Ray (Joanne) Ball, Lloyd (Ann) Ball, Quinton "Q" Ball, Edna (Mike) McGonigal, Thelma Comer, Gladys (Lou) Downard, James and Margaret Ball who passed away in infancy, son Clinton (Doris) Ball, and granddaughter Brittany Ann Ball.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing at the Coalville Stake Center on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at the Coalville Cemetery.
Special thanks to Rocky Mountain Care for 7 years of loving care.
Gerald was a man that was given nothing, but gave everything. His kind heart and quiet spirit will be missed. Walk on, GB.
