Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and best friend, Georgia Helane Fitzgerald, age 93, passed away July 29, 2019 in Draper, Utah.
Georgia was born in Murray, Utah on April 6, 1926. She was raised on a fruit farm in granite at the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon where she spent many hours in Bell's Canyon herding cattle and picking fruit (she was the fastest picker in the family). She loved hearing echoes of her yodeling in the hills.
She graduated from Jordan High School, then married her high school sweetheart, Boyd Allen Fitzgerald. They were happily married for 55 years.
After marrying, she and her husband moved to Ennis, Montana, where they managed a large ranch for Boyd's parents. Later they moved to Emmett, Idaho where they bought a ranch. Then they moved to Holladay, Utah and lived there until 1975 when they moved to Draper, Utah.
She worked as a valued employee in sales in several departments of ZCMI Department Store and retired after 20 years.
She was a devoted wife and mother and she enjoyed cooking, sewing and canning for her family. The most important thing to her was her family. She loved her pets, especially Smokey.
She is survived by her younger brother, Gerald Poulsen (Gail); her children: Barry Fitzgerald (Dana), Suzanne Laurito (Ray) and Alan Fitzgerald (Ginger). Also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents George H. and Alta F. Poulsen; husband, Boyd A. Fitzgerald; daughter, Jeri Fitzgerald; sisters: Phyllis Jensen (Sterling), Carol Roberts (Joseph) and Hazel Dene Hyatt-Bell (Del).
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Anderson & Goff Mortuary, 11859 South 700 East, Draper, Utah. Viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening and 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment at Sandy City Cemetery, 700 East 9000 South.
We want to express our thanks to all the staff at Wentworth at Draper and to her nurse, Ashley, at Tender Care Hospice. A special thanks to Betty for being there for her.
