George €Œwalt†Walter Howard

Walt Howard, age 68, of Nephi, Utah, passed away on the morning of February 12, 2020, due to natural causes. Walt was born on May 29, 1951, in Nephi, Utah, to Ivan and Addie Howard. Walt was the twelfth of thirteen children. He grew up in Nephi where his love for horses began. Much of his time was spent on a horse, and he always loved a good rodeo. During his teenage years Walt began his love for cars. Eventually he made a career of being a mechanic, and worked for Millard County as a mechanic where he retired after 30 years of service.

At the age of 18, Walt fell in love with Patricia Fullmer, of Delta, Utah. Walt and Patricia were married on April 25, 1970, in Sutherland, Utah. They began their life together in Nephi, Utah, where they enjoyed raising their two children, Chad Howard and Tammy (Howard) Carlson. Walt enjoyed many trips with the family to Disneyland and other great adventures. He was a quiet to himself man, but lived for the thrill of a good roller coaster. As a mechanic Walt would often get called away from his family to work on a broken truck, but often Pat, Chad or Tammy could be found in the service truck riding along.

One of Walt's favorite times which he talked about a lot, was building the "Fastest Camaro" in town with his son Chad. He loved the roar of an engine and thrill of a fast car. Walt loved NASCAR and could be heard cheering for his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt.

Walt's biggest hero in life was his older brother, Bud Howard. Walt and Bud had a special relationship which endured the test of time. Walt, Pat, Bud, and his wife, LaRee spent much of their time together riding horses, traveling and just enjoying being together. Often he talked about the long truck rides with Bud, driving to Mills, Utah, to the old Howard Homestead.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Addie Howard, siblings, Kathleen (Afton) Hunt, Bernice Webb, Bonnie Ogden, Georgia Howard, and Lynn Howard. Walt leaves behind his beloved wife, Patricia Howard, son Chad Howard (Angela), daughter Tammy Carlson (Chad), brother "Hero" Bud Howard, sisters Beth Jasper, Carol Fausett, Dee Arp, Edna Jeffery, Grace Howard, and Shirley Partridge. Grandchildren; Kayden Rasmussen (Tianna), Taisha Goudy (Coby), Trinna Howard, Khylen Rasmussen, Maddux Howard, and Brody Carlson. Great Grandchildren; Mason Rasmussen and Crue Rasmussen.

Walt was a "Cowboy" and lived the cowboy life. Walt rode his horse into many sunsets and this being the final one, "Good ride Cowboy, Good Ride."

A tribute in his honor will be held at the Anderson Funeral Home, located at 94 W. 300 N., Nephi, UT, on Monday, February 17, 2020. A viewing will be from 9 am to 10:45 am, with a service for family beginning at 11 am. Graveside services will follow.
