George "Dick" Richard Humphries

George R. Humphries (Dick) 81, passed away on April 22, 2025. He was born on July 29, 1943 on Catalina Island, CA to Doyle and Betty Humphries. He was sealed to Linda Leary on September 6, 1968 in the Salt Lake temple. They were happily married for 54 years.

Dick served in the Navy from 1962-1967, and worked for the US Postal Service for 30 years until he retired. He loved scouting, and received the Silver Beaver award for his dedicated service. He faithfully served as the bishop of his ward, and in the Jordan River Temple with Linda for many years.

Dick was a very sentimental man, and cared for his family and ward family very much. When he moved to assisted living in the last 2 1/2 years of his life, he made many friends, and cared for them the same way he did in his ward, making the new residents feel welcome in their new surroundings. He was loved by all. We want to thank the many doctors, nurses, and care staff who took care of our dad these last two years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Linda, parents Doyle and Betty, and brothers Mike and Glenn. He is survived by his four children Doug, Debbie, Becky, and Steve, 19 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on April 30, 2025 at 12:00 PM. A viewing will be held from 10:00-11:30 AM at the stake center located at 2901 W 9000 S West Jordan, UT. Interment to follow at Utah Veteran’s Memorial Park, 17111 S. Camp Williams Rd., Bluffdale, UT.
