Gene Thomas Durrant

Gene Thomas Durrant, our beloved father, left us on June 16, 2015. He was born to James B. and Lois T. Durrant on January 18, 1938 in Garfield, Utah. Gene was loved by all, always surrounded by friends, but most of all he loved his family.

He was employed by Burroughs (later Unisys). He could fix just about everything and worked as a computer engineer for 35 years.

On June 29, 1962, he married the love of his life, DeAnn Brereton. They were married for 38 years. They divorced in 2000. They continued to be the best of friends. It was always a joke that they were still married, they just lived apart. Their love for each other was apparent by the numerous meals and continued house cleaning by DeAnn. As well as our Dad's generosity, never ending love & respect he showed our Mother. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and just being outside; which he enjoyed most in the company of his father and close friends. He was kept busy throughout his life with DeAnn and his three daughters.

Much of his time was spent on his patio, contemplating projects, debating politics and chatting. In later years, he loved to be surrounded by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He always had a love for animals, whether it was the chickens he raised or his "other daughter", his mini pincher, Lily. A very unlikely pair, but Dad loved her a lot. His kind heart, generosity, sense of humor and his ability to put up with 3 bossy daughters will never be forgotten. We love you Dad and you are already missed beyond words. Until we meet again.

Survived by his daughters, Lori Jones, Lisa Durrant and Leslie (Jake) Calton; brothers, Lloyd (Cherie) Eldredge and Kelly Durrant; sister, Sharon (Ken) Adams; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Shelly Lunn.

Graveside services will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 South.
