Gayla Jo Atkinson, 70, passed away on January 16, 2024 in Draper, Utah. She was born on February 10, 1953 in Murray, Utah to Keith Nelson and Marian Lloyd. Gayla married Brent "Sam" Atkinson on September 19, 1981 in Sandy, Utah.

She worked as a CNA at Sandy Regional for many years. Gayla loved spending time with family, grandchildren and friends. She loved family gatherings and BBQ's. When she wasn't on the phone she loved working in her yard and garden, crocheting, and going to the stock car races with Sam.

She is survived by sons Rick and Shawn Fox, brother Bruce (June) Nelson, sister Dani Mace, 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and dog Maggie "2."

Preceded in death by parents Keith and Marian Nelson, husband Sam Atkinson, siblings Nedra Parduhn, MarriLee McDonald, Sandy Parry, Scott Nelson, grandchild Kensey Rae Uribe, and dog Maggie "1."

Funeral services will be held on January 22, 2024 at Anderson & Goff Mortuary, 11859 South 700 East, Draper, UT 84020. Viewing will be at 11 am, and the funeral will be at 12 pm.
